Any word on EDGE? I heard several markets may be able to use it now, but no
word from T-Mobile.
Thanks,

There have been contracts awarded to Ericsson to install EDGE-capable
networks in W. Virginia and parts of New England and upgrade
infrastructure in 18 other markets that I don't believe were specified
in the announcement.
However, I would strongly suspect it's not operational anywhere yet,
or else they'd be offering some EDGE-capable handsets. I have seen
postings on various forums for wireless PDAs that cite TM tech staff
telling customers EDGE is operational. However, the moderator of the
last site I read that on says he has an EDGE-enabled iPAQ and has
noticed no difference in speeds.
At any rate, I would personally not buy an EDGE-enabled equipment just
on the rumor, because it could very well be largely useless where you
are. Once the upgrade is done systemwide, they'll doubtless start
offering some subsidized devices.

T-mo begins the roll out of EDGE since late May. This is around the tri
state and PA area as far as I know.
