My contract is coming up on Verizon, and I am looking to switch over to
T-mobile.

I am interested in getting 2 RAZR's on a family plan.  Where is the
best price I can get them?  I'd prefer larger reputable chains.  So far
the best deal I could find is $189 each w/free activation, headset, and
car charger at Costco.  Anyone know any better deals currently offered?

How about Amazon.com? You can get them for free from Amazon.com

Not for TMo you can't. Only Cingular has the free offer. The Costco deal
sounds great for what you're getting. Sometimes independent authorized
dealers offer better deals so check around.

They can also charge their own activation fees on top of TMo's as well
as their own ETF.  Caveat emptor and read the fine print!

I checked the Amazon deal.  $150 w $150 rebate on t-mobile.  Plus $35
activation.  All this per phone / line.

For one line it is probably a good deal, but not for a family plan.

The rebate requires activation on a plan $39.99 or higher, and then
staying on the plan for a period of time for the rebate.  Probably
won't allow me to move to a family plan and still get the rebate.  The
overall price would be a bit higher for me than costco if no rebate is
involved.

I even considered the added cost of keeping two individual lines vs the
family plan and it costs more than the rebate over a year contract.

I asked very nicely and got the sales department to upgrade my phone to a
Razor for US$150 after they got approval from a manager.  The customer
service rep could not get her manager to approve such a deal. The
disappointed CSR then quietly told me she is transferring me to sales and
"they can do it."

Cheers,
Mike H.

My local Best Buy had the best prices even over their own online URL.
I picked up the razr 99.00 with a 551 for the wife $29.95 out the door
no rebates to fool with. online they have a little better price for
the Razr at $69.95 but the second phone is nearly full price at
$149.99 for the 551.

works for me <g>
