Chris,
I've got a V330 on T-Mobile and have the T-Mobile Web service. I use it to
check two POP e-mail accounts I have. Works fine. E-mail was easy to set
up using the My.T-Mobile web site. WAP works ok considering it's WAP and
WAP browsing is pretty weak compared to the normal web. But the phone is
great. No complaints.........

You could also install a Java application to do mail. And if you feel
like hacking the phone, there's a 'seem edit' that can be applied to
enable the built-in POP3/IMAP/SMTP client that T-Mobile disables. The
$5.99 plan is sufficient for mail.

I just got the V330 and am taking the 14 days to see if it will be an
acceptable substitute for the most critical things I use my Treo for
(got tired of its bulk and monthly cost). Since the Treo's Palm-based,
I don't have any experience finding and installing Java apps. Any tips
on where to find them? And if I find a 3rd-part Java e-mail client to
check my pop3 accounts, will I need to pay $5.99/mo to T-Mobile? I'll
be on the prepaid plan.
Thanks!

Hm, that's something I could use, too. The fee looks right, too. Can you
check *ANY* pop3 account with it? How can a small screen of a a V330
display email content that was obviously not intended for the limited
size and bandwidth of a mobile phone? Maybe I missed digging deeper on
the T-Mobile web site, I could not find much detail about this service.

Hi Rudy,
Far as I know it's any POP account. I have two set up, Verizon and
Roadrunner. Both work fine. And I have a Yahoo mail account that works as
well. T-Mobile Web on the V330 is already set up to do AOL and Yahoo
email. It doesn't display graphics and it wraps long lines, but the screen
is only so big ya know. At least I can get the emails. It's not like I
use the phone as my primary email reader anyway. I just like to check them
at work seeing as I work 12 hour shifts and have no access to a computer.
You can always try it out for a month and then cancel it if you don't like
it. The cost is prorated on your first monthly bill. If you don't like
it, just cancel it.

Sounds just what I need, Vinny. Is there a time or MB limit for that
$5.95 monthly fee?

Nope, no limits.

Thanks, I've signed up already and have several email accounts
configured on it and working except my free yahoo account that does not
allow POP. Only with a paid account. Free hotmail also is a no-no but
for another reason. Fortunately those are my throw-away accounts,
anyway.
This T-MobileWeb is a terrific deal with its fixed $6 fee, IMHO. Now if
only most Web sites had a WAP version and would automatically present
that one when they sensed a WAP browser on the other end ...

Rudy,
The V330 has a predefined Yahoo email client already installed on the phone.
Hit the T-Zones button, then from the T-MobileWeb screen select Email &
Chat. When you get there the third item down will be Yahoo! Mail. That
gives you complete access to your free Yahoo email account. It's the same
Web based email you use from the PC. No need to try to set up a POP email
account for Yahoo. Have fun...........

Thanks, you were right about that. I saw that separate menu item for
Yahoo Mail, but I assumed it was just an extra convenient menu location
and I would still have to configure the popup access as for the others.
It works great now, though it does not seem to have that password saving
feature that other email entries have. Typing in both the User Id and
Pwd each time gets to be a bit tiresome on a phone key pad. Even so, I'm
still glad it's offered as it is.

There is a way to save your user id and password so you don't need to enter
it each time. But I don't remember how I set that up. Just know I don't
have to enter mine each time. It recognizes me in Yahoo Mail and
Messenger.

Add the bookmark ->
http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/raw?dp=auth&src=home&login=xxxxxx&passwd=zzzzzz
where xxxxxx = your userid & zzzzzz your passwd.

Thanks, it worked. However, I must say that the bookmarking procedure is
not the most intuitive thing I've seen. For instance, after I added that
bookmark, it became named as "New Bookmark" and could find no way to
rename it to something more meaningful. While I tried to get things
right, I inadvertently created 3 extra Yahoo bookmarks as well and could
not find a menu entry that would allow me to delete any of those
bookmarks. Personally I think that the built-in Yahoo Mail entry should
have the capability to save UserId and Passwd but that's just my wishful
thinking. :-(
