I just bought one of the new Samsung T-629 phones.  I've been playing around
with trying to use some mp3 files as ringtones.  I keep getting an error
that the file I have selected is too long.

The phone comes with a built-in mp3 file that is about 3 minutes long, which
can be set as a ringtone without any problems.  I have tried truncating my
mp3 file to less than a minute and I still get the same problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be?

How big is that 3 minute file?  You usually have to cut the bit rate waaaaay
down.  Also, most phones send calls to voice mail after 30 or so seconds, so
anything longer might get booted out as being 'to big'.

Note: This is from my experience playing with my V3.  I don't have a T-629.

It looks like the mp3 file needs to be less than 192KB.  What is really
strange is that this phone comes with a built in mp3 file that is 1.8MB,
which you can configure just fine.  Hard to understand why that works and
user loaded files have to be smaller.
