IIRC, you can send e-mail from any phone (including your 3220) "the hard
way" by sending an SMS to "500" in the format e-mail address, space, body
of message.
For example, text to 500:
support@tmobile.com How do I send e-mail via SMS from my mobile phone?
Many phones have an "send e-mail" menu function that prompts you for
address, subject, body and then automatically sends it to "500" (or
whatever your carrier uses for an e-mail delivery trigger- T-Mo USA uses
500.) Heck, my old Nokia 8290 had that function and I bought it 5 or 6
years ago. If your phone didn't come from T-Mo you'll probably have to
do it manually or find the menu item that lets you define the "e-mail
gateway" number. IIRC, for example, Cingular TDMA used 32767, while T-
Mo, as I've said above, uses 500.
Good luck!
