I have a sony vaio laptop that has a built in edge modem.  That want
you to use cingular at $80 a month but I know that Sony will unlock it
and I can use tmobile.

I see the prepaid cards have internet access via tzones.  I know going
back years ago when I had a phone with tzones I could tether it get
full access.

Can I use a prepaid card for wireless data in a laptop with a built in
cellualr modem?

True, but prepaid T-Zones is a very limited "walled garden" access to
your account info, buying ringtones and access to limited news/info sites-
mostly CNN, ABC News, and ESPN.

On postpaid (monthly plans) yes.  With prepaid, no, except occasionally
when T-Mo lets their guard down.  A system glitch has given prepaid users
full access since October, but T-Mo has clamped it back down in most
markets.

If the wireless company gives access, yes.  T-Mo doesn't, and Cingular
charges $10/mb on prepaid.
