I shall appreciate it if someone can let me know if data rates per minute
are the same as voice rates for T-Mobile's To Go prepaid account.

I currently pay 10 cents a minute for voice calls.

I plan to use my phone, temporarily, as a USB modem for Internet access with
my laptop. Hence this query.

TIA

T-Mobile To Go does not give you data access. There is a limited version
of T-Zones that is enabled with the account, but you only have access to
the home page and those directly linked from it.

You can't.  T-Mo restricts data on their pre-paid plans to what the
industry calls a "walled garden."  You can only access a small, pre-defined
number of webpages from a prepaid account.  Attempting to access any other
page results in an error message saying "Your plan does not support this
feature."

And, to answer before you ask, no, you can't access a dialup ISP from a T-
Mo prepaid phone either.  That requires a feature known as "CSD," or
Circuit Switch Data, that T-Mo doesn't support on prepaid either.  (Not to
mention it's limited to 9600bps!)
