T-Mobile has a series of phones that will switch back
and forth between using the t-mobile cellular radio
network and... where available... will send their
signal across an 802.11 ("WIFI") internet connection.
This lets you, for example, use your phone in a cellular
dead zone such as your basement. (Provided, of course,
you've got WIFI there).
I've been looking around and haven't found any simlar
offers from other vendors. VZ has a "femtocell", which
is a mini cell base that uses their cellular frequencies
(and hooks up to an internet conection), but that's
not at all the same.
Anyone bump into another company with UMA? Thanks

Cincinnati Bell seems to be the only other US provider.
