I just came over to this NG & was going to ask the same question!  How in the world does T-Mobil expect to compete with the other carriers when they'll be the only ones without PTT.  Maybe they'll lower their price drastically.  I'm only staying with T_Mobil until the dust settles on which carrier has the best price/options.  Verizon is looking good.

You do realize that there a millions of cellular subscribers who do not want/need PTT. If they did, they'd all be subscribing to Nextel. The PTT is a niche market at best. T-Mobile is very competitive with their peak minutes, and data plans.

>nextel has spotty cellular service

Nextel does not offer cellular service. They offer iDen which is a trunked
2-way radio service. Thanks to the Carterphone decision in the mid 1960's they
can connect to the telephone network.

I have that now.

I push a button and my wife and I talk.

or I push a button and my son and I talk.

or...... Well you get the idea.

Now if I want a walkie talkie I will go to a 2-way company. Oh wait a minute, I
will not buy anything from Nextel....... It would have to be a different 2-way
company.

If T-Mo never offers PTT they'll have to limit their market to
the 97% of phone customers that don't want or need it.

Besides, I've heard it on good authority that T-Mo is going
to leapfrog past simple PTT technology and instead is going
to bring back Morse Code.  TTS (Tap to Signal) handsets
should be available first quarter next year, and Sony's got
one with a bluetooth wireless Morse Code key coming!

I'm not sure if I should be laughing, but I am!
