I don't know about the deals in the UK or Paris. Last week I was in Germany
and Tscibo had a pre-paid promo - a SIM card for 5 Euro with 10 Euro call
credit.
You might want to check around the local scene to figure out what the best
current deal is. A lot depends on where you are calling, etc.....

Hi,
I live in Florida and often travel to Europe.
You will only be able to use local SIM cards if you have your phones
unlocked. Otherwise, you will be limited to T-Mobile pre-paid SIM cards or
the US T-Mobile SIM card which will cost you 99 US cents per call.
What is a really good deal and I rely on it a lot during my travels is to
use T-Zones Internet connection to send and receive e-mails. Because unlike
the phone calls and text messages, the T-Zone access to send and receive
e-mails cost nothing other than the monthly T-Zone access fee.
As for longer phone chats, the best thing to do is to stop by at a local
Internet Cafe and use Skype for free or 2-3 US cents per minute calls to
landlines.
Bon Voyage,
Imre

Actually, T-Mobile charges $15/MB for international data roaming, but
it's been widely reported on Howard Forums that they often "forget" to
bill it.
I'm not sure I'd count on it being included, however.
