I'm torn between the above 3.  I need PDA-type functions in my phone
because I don't want to buy a new PalmOS device.  I thought the 8700
might work for me, but I've heard that there is no Java VM for it (tho
the websites I've read say different) and T-Mobile is blocking apps
that aren't signed by RIM or T-Mobile now.  Anyone know if that's true?

Anyway.. between the 3 of these which would people in this group go
with?  I know they have quite a bit of variation between them but I'm
still curious to hear other points of view.  Thanks.

From what I understand, T-Mo is now blocking "unsigned" Java apps from
installing or connecting to the web in T-Mobile-branded "dumbphones,"
like the Nokia 6133 or 5300- not PDA phones.

I use an MDA, my wife uses a Dash.   The difference, essentially, is that
the MDA is a good PDA with an akward-to-use phone built-in.  The Dash is
a good phone with an awkward-to-use PDA built-in.

Neither includes Java support built-in, but it can be added (at least on
the MDA- I've never looked for a Java-runtime for the Dash.)  Frankly
there's too much good Windows Mobile software around for me to use Java
apps for anything.  It's like asking if a new Vista PC still comes with
GW-Basic!

Opera Mini and Google Maps still work fine on my T-Mobile RAZR V3.
I have the $5.99 web access option.

AFAIK, the "blocking" is model dependant.  T-Mo has done it to the two
newest Nokias, I don't know if the newer Motos will get the same treatment.
