does anyone know if it is possible to configure t-mobile phones so that they
are able to access wap with  a downloaded application. ie: opera web
browser, or third party email or rss application?

Yes, and the details were posted some time ago, at least as far as
Motorola V3 RAZR is concerned.  Another user posted the procedure, I
further documented and posted it.

The problem is that Tmobile has disabled the web sessions menu on the
phones, so you cannot set up the needed java session.

I also posted the procedure to the forums at opera.com as regards
opera mini.

It is working for me finally.

It should work the same for the v330. The SEEM edits to turn on the Web
Sessions Menu are the same too.

Bruce or anyone else that can answer this,

Is there anyway to do a SEEM edit on a V330 using a non-windows
computer?  I use Linux (Ubuntu 6.06 LTS) only and do not have access to
a windows PC.  I'd like to use the Opera browser too as I find the WAP
browser on the V330 is pretty lame.

TIA for any assistance.

I don't know of any non-WIN programs to do that. To install Opera Mini
on your phone go here:
http://mini.opera.com from your wap browser. Depending on your carrier
you may need to edit a Web Sessions setting on the phone to use it.

Sorry, I should have given you more info.  I'm on T-Mobile with the
$5.99 T-Mobile Web plan.  Using a V330. Just wanted to install & set up
Opera on this phone.

Thanks Bruce.

I think trying to do that on a non-windows computer would be a waste
of time. Not that it might not work but it would take you 5 min on an
XP machine. So find one and use it.

I found it didn't work on windows 98 nor on windows 2000.  XP, it
worked right away.  Just use what works.

I have opera mini working OK on a tmobile razr after I changed the one
bit to enable the missing web sessions menu.

I recently did the same on my RAZR, with the same good result.
Will this SEEM edit also help with tethering the phone to a laptop,
thereby being able to use the laptop to browse the Internet?
