What sort of connection is indicated for T-zones on your phone?

My Nokia 6133 always indicated GPRS, even in Edge territory.

My replacement KRZR shows neither icon.  I don't know *what* that means.
The rep at the store said that it indicated Edge, but I now think he was
confused by an unrelated icon.

My Nokia 6133 indicates GPRS in Victorville, California, too, even though
some of the smartphones at our local T-Mo store have the EDGE indicator lit
(and unlike other cell phone stores, our T-Mo store actually has their phones
turned on).

I thought the 6133 was an EDGE-capable phone.
