My wife and I have a 1000 min family plan which resets on the 15th each month. Our usage is higher than ususal this month because we're traveling so today we each got text messages advising us that with 8 days still to go we had only 44 min left. I called TMo and asked if we could buy some more minutes for this month and he said we wouldn't need to because, as good customers since 2002, he would give us each 500 free bonus minutes to tide us over! I had a similar experience two years ago. When my dad died I was going to be way over on my plan mins for the month. I called customer service and they did the same thing with 500 courtesy minutes. Whenever I get the bug to switch to another provider (new phone, or whatever) I recall how good T-Mobile was and stay put. Now THAT'S good customer service!! After 3 years with ATT and just recently switching to TMo find their customer svc and tech support far far superior. Also found that when I'm going on vacation for a month or more they have a vacation policy, "seasonal suspension" which cost is $10/mo. ATT had no such animal and this year being in foreign countries using that countrys' sim cards for 3 months at a ATT cost of $150 total for naught I cancelled before leaving for another 6 weeks. They certainly beat the pants off of ATT!! Now, if they would just get some more antennas up in my area, they would be quite useful (Marin County just north of San Francisco). Started with a prepaid account and found that doesn't entitle internet or email so guess I'll have to waste money on a monthly (I don't use it that much), or change back to ATT, which would be more expensive, but at least works everywhere in my area.
