Anybody use this service?
We've had it for a while and I like it a lot. We only really
have cell phones for emergencies and such, so it works out really
well for us, about $150 per year for 1000+ minutes, WAY more than
we use.
But this doesn't work in the Carolinas, as an example. I guess
T-Mobile doesn't have service there or something and they don't
have an agreement with other providers for the To Go service.
Anybody know anything about this?

And that was with T-Mobile To Go, the prepaid service?

Hmmm... I'm HOPING that means that T-Mobile has full coverage in NC (at
least Charlotte and Raleigh).
Thanks!

Check the coverage maps.

Last year when we got T-Mobile To Go, the coverage maps showed coverage
in Charlotte and Raleigh. When we got there, that wasn't the case.

It looks like T-Mobile has recently permitted roaming for their prepaid plan
(except on the 850 band). Charlotte & Raleigh are roaming areas for
T-Mobile. See http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/coverageprepaidfaq.aspx for
more details.

It looks like they have expanded.
But why would they not cover the I-95 corridor through the Carolinas?
Either way, it's good that they've got Charlotte and the Triangle
covered now.

My only complaints with the service...
Lack of email support. I've sent two questions to t-mobile via email and
have never heard back from them.
Discrepancies in listed/advertized services. Features and prices listed
on the t-mobile site differ from the features and prices listed on the
newly rolled out t-mobile to-go section of my.t-mobile.com.
And I hate that the my.tmobile site is crippled for pay as you go
customers.

Ouch, when we got the phone we dumped $100 into the prepaid bucket and
ended up with 1150 minutes.

I'm not too sure of their coverage maps, they seem to err on the side of
no coverage. Less than a mile from here t-mobile's map shows no
coverage, I've made several calls from within the no coverage area.

We got TM2GO for the same reasons: we had a couple of cheap AT&T-WS phones on
a corporate plan (about $12/month, each, with 15min/month). I realized that
moving to TM2GO would be cheaper in the long run, especially if we used
more than 15min/month. I did a quick search of all prepaid plans, and I
couldn't come up any better than $100/1000min/yr with TM2GO.
We've only been on them 2 months or so, and the first and only renewal
was strange, as I noted in another posting. Email confirmation, which
may have been duplicate, came several weeks after the fact, making it
look like we had renewed again (which wasn't the case).

Yep, it saves me a great deal of money over my previous Sprint
postpaid account.

I use about 90mins/month, and TMO2Go is perfect for my scenario.

TMO does not have the biggest network, and TMO2GO roaming is minimal
or nonexistant. Although I hear rumors of a roaming deal on HOFO,
etc.
FWIW, I've only been without signal once on TMO2GO and that was in a
very rural area between tiny towns and cowpastures about 2 hrs outside
of Dallas.
