My t-mobile prepaid phone allows me to check remaining minutes and
expiration date with the "t-zone" applet, which is a web browswer.

How can I use my PC's web browser to check my remaining minutes and
expiration date? What is the URL, and how do I communicate my phone's ID to
the server?

Pretty much self explanatory from there.

It works.

sorry for asking an obvious question
for some reason I was under the impression that pre-paid customer cannot
register an account on their web site

For the longest time you couldn't. It wasn't that long ago that they
added the option for pre-paid customers to use my.t-mobile.com.
