I doubt anybody will have any ideas about on this but I want to have a
bitch so i'll write this anyway.
This must be a brand new model in 06/04 cause i can find absolutely no
support information offical or unsupport whatsoever.
I'm trying to connect my LG G5300i phone to my computer to transfer
stuff, but for some bazaar reason LG thought it would be a good idea if
the cable used for data transfer was a serial com port one; I haven't
used one of those in about 10 years. Lucky one of my computers had a com
port at all.
Anyway I connected it up and installed the software and device driver
and now it refuses to work with the only single diagnoisgic being
'device is already being used by something else' which it isn't. The
total instructions for achieving the connection are zero, there's a load
about doing it with InfraRed (which is easy to do anyway) but nothing
about the difficult task of using a com port. I'm damned if i'm going to
ring a 08700 number and get the answer to this.
Does anyone know anything about this phone or connecting phones via com
ports in general?
Any help appreicated.

oLE

Serial is still a part of the current PC spec. Parallel isn't, though.

That is quite a common error but only if there *is* something else using the
COM port :-) By that I don't mean anything plugged in but software having
grabbed it just in case. For example software for hotsyncing a PDA may grab
the serial port and start waiting for a PDA to be connected to it, even if
you are actually using USB or IR. Have you now, or have you ever had, any
devices that could (in theory) be connected to the COM port and that have
had software installed for them that could be sitting there hopefully
waiting the device will one day turn up?
