Err.. at £5/Mb what's the point if Orange JT gives full GPRS (not just WAP
GPRS) for less?

Notwithstanding I did use their system to try it out. The settings came
through OK by SIM and the profile installed properly. However GPRS is still
not apparently enabled on the account (the triangle does not appear) so a
connection fails.

Rebooted several times and tried in a T39 and a Treo180 in SE London.
Anybody doing better?

I used the T39 to download the settings to the SIM. They are the same as
displayed on the website so you can just copy them in if the SIM update
doesn't auto-install.

I can't seem to find the username/pw or APN for the GPRS logon on the WWW
site though. Have I missed something ?

Just enter any phone type and your number and the next screen displays the
full settings... well it does for T39!

the install sms works fine on my T610.  GPRS and picture mesg work a
treat.  A lot cheaper than TMobile PAYG which I ended up trying last
month.

Nope, I tried it yesterday and again this morning, to no avail, with a T68i and
a Tungsten T3. There's no indication of GPRS on the main phone display, going
into the "Status" page says "GPRS not allowed" and dialling *99# results in an
error saying "Network Problem".

I read somewhere that the offical launch date is 1st July so I'm hoping it might
work tomorrow, but it's pretty poor if they've got all the info on their web
site but haven't enabled the service!

Call 789 ask them to provision you for GPRS Bearer and GPRS Roaming.

Some of the bulk loads to T Mobile have had to be re-submitted hence
some phones are not currently GPRS enabled, but they will be.
Glenn Proctor - 30 Jun 2004 11:22 GMT
As an update, after having my phone explicitly provisioned for GPRS (it had
apparently been missed) I now have GPRS working on the phone.

Now I just need to set up my Palm to use it ...

No problems connecting here at all using a Nokia 8310. Settings
arrived fine and I have successfully used GPRS a dozen or so times
since. I am a little surprised at the cost. I was hoping for something
a little cheaper or even a promotional offer. Free like O2 for a year
or two may be  :o)

Yahoo's mail service doesn't seem to work. Their WAP site identifies
the network as T-Mobile and says all T-Mobile users need to register.
After inputting the authentication code I am told that there is a
problem and that I cannot use the site. Also, I can't log in to the
Vxtras site as I can't input numbers into the passcode box. Mind you
there's so little left on Vxtras that I won't really need that site
any longer.

Keep an eye on the Virgin Mobile Website over the next couple of months ;-)

GPRS WAP is not formally launched yet.

Does anyone know the settings for this ? (Username, PW, APN, IP etc.) - My
Treo 180 isn't listed for automated setup.

Takes some finding on the site!

How do I manually set up my phone for Picture Messaging?
It might take you a few minutes and you'll need to take a look at your
phone's manual for instructions.

Here are the service settings:
