Got me t-mobile communicatition centrecard the other week, impressed with it
so far... fine for web surfing.. got 3 bars of signal here, and i'm getting
around 53k speeds,
i would really like some better displays of what's going on tho.. like a
better signal meter, it's very hard to see the light green bars on the grey
background, and a data counter that shows k's rather than bytes, and keeps a
running total for the month would be nice (get du meter... i know..)

However e-mails are getting on my nerves, i have my own hosting account for
my web site, and hence my own e-mail server for recieving e-mails, and at
home i send throuhg my dsl ips.. btopenworld (or who ever they're called
today) obviousely i can't send e-mails from a t-mobile card via btopenworld,

but i can't figure out what to do, the communication centre tells you to set
up an e-mail account by pressing one of their buttons, but it only works if
you have an account with one of their selected accounts.. btopenworld is not
on the list,

Anyone know how to fix this.. am i going through an isp when using t-mobile
gprs?? if so, why didn't i get any details for their e-mail services.. or
arent there any?

We have a home network, and have it set up so we can connect to our home
e-mail server (which just automaticaly collects our e-mails from
btopenworld.. my account isnt on there yet) but we can't get the t-mobile
card to allow us to get onto our home network via the new.. it works with a
dial up isp, and any other land line based net connection.. just not the
gprs one.. i think it's more the t-mobile software, as when it tries to log
on, it takes 1 second to say it's failed.. as if it's not even trying.

I get the same thing when trying to connect to my e-mail server at my
hosting account, 1 second and it says it can't log on.

Is this something to do with the gprs settings, or software??
Any other communication centre users able to collect and send their e-mails
via a home network, or their own pop3 mail boxes??

You are supposed (as it says) to use the T-Mobile TMail service. However,
you can use the SMTP server at 209.228.37.13 which is the IP of the mail
cluster that handles mail for T-Mobile GPRS connected users. Stick that in
the appropriate place with your mail client and you're done.

Ahh, so it seems i'm missing some info about how to set this thing up then,
all i have is the so called users manual, which is pretty basic to say the
least, even the 'expert' version.. then again maybe i didnt read the right
bits or something :)

i'll have a play and see waht i can get it to do :)

The other thing to remember with GPRS is that to all intents and purposes,
T-Mobile is your ISP. Whilst you should have no problems using your ISP's
pop3 server for *incoming* mail, you *must* use T-Mobile's SMTP server for
*outgoing* mail. I believe it's name is SMTP.t-email.co.uk Remember, it's
send & (Then) receive, if your phone don't make it through the SEND bit, it
sure ain't gonna make it through the RECEIVE bit.
