I see that if I go to Play.com I can get a ringtone for 99p. But is that
really all it costs? Doesn't it cost something to download it? (I've got a
Samsung X460 and I'm with O2 Pay as you Go) and if so, how much (roughly)?
And what about those sites offering you free ringtones..isn't there some
kind of catch?

You'll also pay a couple of pence in data transport costs.

Why do you need to buy ringtones..? My phone tells me someone is calling
me perfectly well without me having had to buy anything extra.

Its quite a lot of money as you can download and install a few billion
different ringtones for free if you have a PC, a cable , an internet
connection and some software.
I wouldn't pay for a ringtone if it cost more than 0.0001 penny!

That sounds tempting. But I guess you'd have to be pretty musical,
especially for Polyphonics

You can use any MP3, WAV or MIDI file - at least you can on most
decent phones (K7xx from Sony Ericsson is decent in these terms). You
need a source device e.g. PC and an IrDA, Bluetooth or serial cable to
connect the phone, then just copy your files across. It really is that
simple, and is completely free.
