read in the local paper the other day about a guy who got into the ringtone
market back in the day when there was not much competition - he is now
valued at millions - wouldnt surprise me if the same company owns tons of
the ringtone sites under different names.

I was refering to the attempt at SPAM, rather than the actual site. - Didn't
even bother looking at that ;-)

There are a lot of affiliate firms out there now that provide 'white
label' ringtone sites and content, you just change the layout and take a
cut. Probably one of them.
It does irk me how much people make off ringtones. I work as a
programmer/composer and get paid next to nothing (once per tune) for the
skilled work that earns the content delivery guys a packet. Its a bit
like tin pan alley revisited really; musical arrangers slaving away for
a pittance to provide cigar chompers with another flash car.
The main reason I do it is because I get sent pretty difficult stuff
(have to do the occasional 'bangin poly choon', but not many), and work
for one of the better quality wholesalers who demand accurate work - its
a good workout for my ears/brain, though not exactly rock and roll.
