Ive bought phones for the wife an my son this xmas on O2.

Motorola V3 / Samsung E720 both on pay monthly tariffs.

They work fine as phones but I can't get the E-mail options working.

Is the "Internet" access offered by 02 on these phones a resticted service
that allows connections only to the mail servers allowed by o2 ?

Would be a major PITA if that were the case - is there any way to get the
restriction lifted ?

I ask as putting in the normal server setings and trying to connect doesn't
work :-(

AFAIK you have to get the SIMS activated for 'Mobile Web'. Usually it is
just a call to CS

On contract, but not on PAYG, and even then on contract the 'web
access' side of things is clipped

How is it?

Everything's proxied, yes, but which Mobile provider /wouldn't/ do
this?!  I would!

Please explain your post in a bit more detail...

On PAYG O2 only allow GPRS WAP. On contract they do allow full internet
access but according to thier website the sim must be activated for
Mobile Web. Not sure why this should be, but had one done recently.

Just get on to O2 customer services; I had a similar problem and they
emailed me a 58-step(!) "idiot's guide", specific to my phone,
explaining exactly how to set it up.
