N70 firmware - Go Orange or go naked?

Hello

I've got a Nokia N70 on Orange which goes slow from time to time and
frequently crashes - I believe a firmware upgrade may be the answer.
I use Line2 for business usage and the odd Orange feature, but should I get
an official Orange firmware upgrade or a generic Nokia one?

Firmware
v2.0537.1.7
18-09-05
RM-84

Many thanks

Matt

As you use Line2 - surely it has to be Orange ?  Not sure that generic
firmware supports Line 2.

Maybe someone else will come along and confirm ?

Cheers

In this case I think it would have to be.

It does support it, but I'm not sure if anyone has deciphered the PM yet, so
it may not be possible to have it activated.

It *does* - you just need ALS enabled, and CHPS turned off (ideally).

However, trying to find a service centre even *able* to do this (only
level 3/4 can - and wont!) is impossible :(

Is one able to download the firmware and do the update themselves, rather
than having to take it to the shop?

You can do it yourself, but you'll need to buy a decent flashing solution
first.  UFS, Griffin or Jaf would be able to handle it, with my preference
being for UFS+HWK (but you won't get much change out of £200).
