Has anyone found a direct comparison between these 2 devices, I am due an
upgrade now, but T-Mobile not playing nicely on the Vario II. Maybe I could
just get the vario; but dont want to be annoyed that I did not!

Anyone know the key differences etc?

Cheers in advance

Hi

There is no comparison between these two devices

Vario 2 is so much better

Not only does Vario 2 have 3g, it has HSDPA available now ie 4 x 3g
speed! I have an unlocked SPV M3100 (Vario 2 equivalent) running at 1
meg on T-Mobile Web'n'Walk.

Also,IMO the processor in the Vario 1 was seriously underpowered.

I had the SPV M600 for a short while (similar internally to Vario 1)
and sold it on after a couple of weeks, as it couldn't even cope with
scrolling down pdf documents.

Also the slide-out keyboard on the Vario 1 had a tendency to slide out
when you didn't want it to; build of Vario 2 is much better.

Just my (biased) opinion!

Is the M600 not like the MDA Vario COMPACT 2 rather than the vario ???

For all intents and purposes, internally the M600, Compact 2 and Vario
are very similar.  I believe same CPU and memory etc.  Hence his comment
about the ability to scroll PDF documents - this is a CPU bound
function, and therefore indicative of how the Vario would cope.

M600 has similar form factor to Compact 2
However M600 also has wifi like Vario 1
All 3 ie M600, Compact 2, Vario 1 are based on a 195mhz processor.

With the Vario 2, they've put a decent processor in it (400mhz) as well
as making it 3g *and* HSDPA capable.
