Mine was loud on my old k750i, and it eventually, after about 6 months,
ended up sounding distorted. I know what you mean, but there's nothing quite
like waking up to some low-quality abismal alarm tune, makes a great start
to the day.

Just used google there; someone suggested using 'sound forge' on the PC to
reduce the volume of the actual file, so that the handset only plays it at
maximum.
So i guess you could have 2 ringtones, copy the old one, adjust the
sound-level in sound forge, and have a loud one, for those times when you
want to wake up irritated.

Funnily enough Whiffin mentioned that in passing a few weeks back. Might
have to give it a try then.
