I made a call to another mobile and was passed straight to voice mail.
I hung up without leaving a message.  There is no call record on my
phone or the phone I called.  I now have no way of proving I made the
call.  Any ideas what's happened here?

Try it again and see what happens?

If it was so important you needed to prove you called then you would have
left a message?

You weren't billed for the call..? How did you manage that, tell me <g>

BTW if it was me you called (I know it wasn't, but it could have been and
the point holds), please leave a message next time, I hate it when people
hang up without doing so..!

....well, please have you vm disabled. I don't need an answerphone to
tell me you're not going to answer - ring ring will tell me that & it's
free.

I hate it when people have voicemail..!

No, I have a valid need for voicemail, I need to be able to take work
messages if I'm away from the phone, very often I'm on 24hr call. I need
to know who called and when, a missed call doesn't always tell me that.

Maybe you'd hate it less if you left messages and people returned your
call at their expense..!

I'm quite a hypocrite really. I'm obliged to have VM on my work's mobile.
However, it would be much better to be issued with a separate VM number -
callers could then choose to pay to leave a message, or not. (Something
along the lines of, for a number 07973 123456, the VM number could be 06973
123456)

However, I do detest paying to find someone's out.; BT's 1571 Answer was a
fantastic marketing idea, especially giving it away free - their call
revenue soared once it was introduced.

ISTR that Orange would not charge for calls of less than 3 secs on
contract handsets.  Not sure if this still applies though ?

Are you on Orange ?

Cheers
