Online for 10 euros, or £7~ish - plus it's interesting to learn things such
as that and their associated methods. I second 'davinciteam.com' - it's
pretty good. Make sure you READ the instructions twice or more, to ensure
your credit isn't wasted.

If I'm correct, it takes 1 credit to de-brand the firmware, ie: install new
firmware on it - and a further 1 credit for unlocking.

So it's going to cost you about £14 to £15 in total, I imagine, to do what
you require.

Important: Do a master reset-all on the phone before, and after flashing. It
could make a big difference believe it or not.

Do I have to buy a special cable to do it online?

I keep hearing mention of "cruiser" and the like...

You can use the USB grey cable that came with your phone! Yippeee! You
download the 'davinci' application, and download files from their server,
then write them to the flash on your phone. It's mainly automated, but it's
good to read first and get familar with the interface, it's pretty easy to
be honest.

You can actually use SEUS (sony ericsson update service) to download an
official sony ericsson application that will update your firmware on your
phone to the latest one available, BUT of course in your situation you will
just be upgrading a branded firmware, so it will still place the latest
available branded firmware (that your network provides) on your phone, not
solving anything!

Yes cruiser will do it - but a bit too expensive for a single handset

Best to stick with Davinci if you DIY
