As I'm shortly going to be asking for a PAC to transfer my number, does
anyone know what information Orange will ask me for? The reason for
asking is that I won't be anywhere near home when calling them, due to a
crap signal in and around my house, so if I need to have anything to
hand then I'll have to note it down in advance.

Do they just cough up the PAC or do I have to talk to the retention
department first?

Got a PAC code verbally for 14 phones about a week ago - Retentions just
handed it over - no concern at all - very 'matter of fact' - or, how you
say 'didn't seem to give a sh*t that they were losing over £1000/month
from us'.

That really highlights why we left Orange.
