Assuming you haven't done it already you need to change the GPRS
settings to work on Orange's, rather than Vodafone's, servers.

Search the web for Orange GPRS settings, it should be fairly simple to
change.

You do also need Blackberry service if you want instant-on email. I
don't know if the blackberry would work as a non-instant device without
it, perhaps someone else does?

There lies the problem - I have never found any settings related to
managing any email facility.

"Data connection refused" means (I'm fairly sure after struggling with
the same problem for some time) that the network is blocking the
outbound GPRS connection attempt because it recognises that you're
using a Blackberry without paying for "Blackberry service".  You'll
see a lower-case "gprs" on the display in these circumstances and you
need to see an upper-case "GPRS" before GPRS will actually work.

I'm at a loss to understand why all the UK networks discriminate
against Blackberries but, unlike other GPRS-capable handsets, it's not
possible to use a Blackberry to make outbound TCP/IP connections over
GPRS without paying extra to the network.

If anyone knows different, I'd be delighted to be shown to be wrong.

Mike.

Have you read my email in the other thread, "Orange Blackberry"?

From this morning @ 0:19.

You're unlikely to get this working I'm afraid. I gave up in the end and
asked the guy I bought my 2nd hand one from for a refund. He worked at
Orange too and was unable to get their CSR's to aid in any way.
