is this a stand alone program that acts like MSN or does it use SMS
services ?

I can't seem to find it listed for Symbian phones only smart phones

Take a look at Hier for Series 60 mobiles.

Been using Agile myself for ages but recently found Hier and so have
cancelled my Agile subscription and will switch to Hier as soon as
Agile stops working.
