O2 Online Contract Change

Hello Everyone,

I sent an email to O2 online asking why I couldnt send MMS from my phone
(T610). After a week or perhaps two, I have just recieved an email from O2
telling my they have changed my tariff  to online Off-peak 500 MMS tariff.
But they are cancelling my old tariff, and have started a new one.

Now, I didnt ask for my tarriff to be changed, or for current contract to be
cancelled. I have rang O2 who were confused and would escalate my
complaint/comment higher- I just want to know why they have changed tariff,
and is it worse then I was on before?? -  I cant check as link they provided
takes you to new tarriffs!

Alarmingly it also says "my next bill may show 2 rental charges" but I have
just started with O2 and last months bill had two rentals on it (paying line
rental monthly in advance??) - is this normal and will it work out all
right. It would seem that I will end up paying £80 over the first  two bills
which is more than little excessive or have I just miss understood what they
are saying to me.

If any one has any advice or comments please let me know!

Cheers

Steve

Looks like it,
but are they the muppets, or me for having to pay 50p a minute to get to fix
it??? That is the question ;-)

O2 online customers still cannot have full internet over gprs plus the
capability of sending MMS, kinda annoys me with a phone such as the
P800 :((

Please correct if I'm wrong.

Well i have full internet access and MMS on my tarrif.... O2Online 200, it
appears to work anyway with my T610.

A while back i called o2 and had a REAL go at them and now it all appears to
work. I was put through to some kind of call centre where they deal with
high level complaints... it did have an 01 number as well but the guy who
rang me from regualar o2 helpdesk started to read it out then stopped and
said that he wasnt supposed to give me that number but he would tell them to
call me back. After about a month of messing around they finally turned it
on and it seems to work fine.

Thus i can check my pop email on the mobile web settings and browse the web
using my PDA and also send MMS pictures when ihave had a few beers in the
pub!

Cheers

Richard.

Hi Stephen,

I've had a look @ your details on your 079* account. O2 Online have 2
versions of every tariff - i.e. we have Offpeak 500 and Offpeak 500
with MMS. The reason for this is because not every handset supports
MMS, and someone on a non-MMS phone will still want to be able to
receive picture messages (those people receive a text message telling
them that they can view their picture message online). Because of
this, it would be necessary to change you from Offpeak 500 (ON NET) to
Offpeak 500 (ON NET) with MMS. Your contract has not been cancelled,
nor even renewed (you can change your tariff on a daily basis). Your
tariff still costs £20/month and gives you an identical allocation as
it did before. The only difference is the support for MMS!

The reason why it says your "next bill may show 2 rental charges" is
because that's a standard thing when you change tariff. You paid a
month's line rental up front, almost like a deposit - it gives you
credit against your name and means you can cancel/upgrade in your 11th
month of contract. Suppose you were to change from a £20 a month
tariff to a £30 a month tariff. We'd refund the £20 you've already
paid upfront, and take £30 so we still hold 1 month's credit against
your name. Think of it as a deposit you get mostly refunded when you
disconnect. Since you're changing from a £20 tariff to a £20 tariff -
the net change will be £0 so no extra charges. I've explained this
quite badly :(

If you need any additional settings for your phone, grab them from
http://www.o2.co.uk/mms (see under related links).

Would be interesting to see what they make of my account then :)

I don't think the email guys got the /dev/null joke. LOL @ that series
of emails though. I'd paste one your emails here but some bastard
would probably probably make sure I got fired for DPA violations.

Cheers & Thanks James,

A nice straight forward answer thanks very much, better than the telephone
call I recieved today.

All seems to be ok, fingers crossed (very tightly at that too!) that things
should change with no hitch.

Thanks to everyone who read me post,

Cheers

Steve
