Perhaps "orange" branded or supplied phones have some GPRS settings
hard coded, and becasue I'm using a T-Mobile supplied PDA it needs more
settings??
For refrence the PDA I have is marketed by T-Mobile as the MDA Vario,
by Or as the XDA Mini S and also as the iMate K-Jam, and it's still
offline with Orange...

OK, it's working for interenet and POP3 email, seamlessly roaming
between WiFi & GPRS, with WiFi preferred
For refrence, the GPRS settings I used were:
Access point name field: orangeinternet
Username: orange
Password: orange
As sugested no proxy address was required
