I can't call 0118-308-00xx from my Virgin Mobile

I can't call a 0118-308-00xx number from my Virgin Mobile.

I called Virgin to report it and their conclusion was that it's not a valid
number because they can't call it from their BT line.

However I can call it just fine from my BT line.

Any idea what could be going on?

At a guess, their 'BT line' isn't really a BT line it is a extension of
a PBX or ACD that routes their calls in much the same way as your
mobile.  In other words, if you can't call it from your mobile, they
can't call it from their offices -- one of the most likely explanations
if you say you can call it fine yourself from a BT line.

Could be ISDN, ACR or something - there is a message from BT about
incompatible numbers.  What tone do you get?

My Virgin mobile just gives a voice message "You have dialled an incorrect
number, please check the number and re-dial". From my BT line it works
properly. From my BT line using carrier select to select NTL it also works
properly. From my work it works properly.

I just noticed Virgin seem to have fixed it.
