I was quite impressed with the security built-in to the new Samsung Ultra range. You store a mobile number in the phone of someone you would like contacted if the phone gets stolen. When the phone is stolen and the thief inserts their own SIM the phone automatically sends a text from the newly-inserted SIM card to the number stored in step one. This would serve presumably to alert the owner to the theft if not already aware and to reveal the thiefs phone number so then you just call them and try and get the phone back. I wonder if one of those tracking services could use that as authorisation to tell you where the phone is? I just can't hack Samsung phones though, I kept trying a few in the hope they had gotten better up until about a year and a half ago, and I just don't like the UI. If I were to speak Chinese more often, I would definitely go for one though. The Chinese swear by Samsungs for their chinese language implementations. |
