I'm interested in sending SMS from a PC via landline modem to a
mobile, which will obviosuly need to go through an SMS gateway at some
point. A couple of questions:

1. I've found some old TAP-to-SMS gateway access numbers, which are eg
07860xxxxxx (now O2 I guess), 07785 etc. Would these be charged at
connect-to-mobile rates even though it's landline access and in any
case what would be the tariff for these calls? Is there a minimum
charge?

2. Are there are more recent TAP-to-SMS gateways that anyone can
recommend and that would might have a better tariff?

Many thanks if anyone is able to help

Yes you would be charged the rate of calling a mobile.

Depending on what rates you are getting  and how many you want to send you
may be better off using a connected mobile to send the text messages (o2
online comes to mind).
