Recent changes to o2-account online via the user control panel? A wee
setting you missed in the email client? GPRS-account alteration?
Too many reasons to guess. The fact it's working now is what matters :D

I didn't change any settings either on my K750 or Mac email client, nor
on O2 online. I just happened to notice that the O2 settings had
suddenly become 'live' (indicating that the account was active and
working) on my Mac at work after being set up ages ago and being dead
all that time.

I suppose, except it's nice to know what the issues were in case it
happens again.
