If you take out an 18 Month Contract on Orange, is your phone covered by
warranty for that 18 Months or just 12 Months.

I'm guessing its only 12 Months

That'll depend on the handset manufacturer though. I believe Nokia
phones currently come with a 2 year warranty, for instance.

Not sure, but could that be a get out clause for you if your phone fails
after 12months. EG, you contracted for a handset and calls???

But you don't contract for a handset. It's entirely separate.

You guess correctly.

What phone have you got? Some come with a 2 year warranty.

The warrenty does not effect your rights to expext a fair lifetime of any
product so if it is looked after then you will be covered for a phone.

I asked at Nokia Service Centre and the bloke said 2 years for Nokia.
Also found at that some SE phones have 2 years as well e.g. M600i,
P990i.
Hope this helps!

Your biggest problem will be getting Orange to abide by their obligations as
the retailer to honour the manufacturer warranty. In the past they have
tried claiming that if the phone is more than 6 months old they have no
responsibility and that you have to pursue any warranty claim yourself with
the manufacturer.

Nokia provide 2 years.

In which case it's a short trip to Consumer Advice/Trading Standards .  The
retailer has obligations for 12 months ( at least) .
