My New Mobile is EDGE compatible.

Does anyone know where I might find a coverage map for EDGE, the Orange
website does not seem to have one?

Someone else will know for sure, but I don't think EDGE was rolled out in
the UK market as there was early 3G adoption.

I get EDGE on Vodafone in an increasing number of locations.  First
spotted it on my BlackBerry early last year.

EDGE is not available on Orange yet, it's being tested.

That might wrap.

I've been using EDGE on Orange for about a year in various locations --
the coverage is getting better all the time, although it still is
patchy.

Let me re-prhase then. It exists in various places but is not publicly
available or supported, although if you have a capable device you might
get lucky!

I imagine Bristol would be somewhere where there is coverage?

Presumably if it is not publicly available and not supported on Orange
they have no way to charge you when using it?

They'd use the same charging as they do for GPRS (I'd assume) since it's
using the same network nodes (as far as I can remember.)

I went out the other day to another town and picked up the I symbol very
patchy coverage and mostly in the sticks but couldn't try it because i was
moving.

However for some reason I managed to be in Edge coverage last night in my
home town (which is Orange 3G covered) and the data speeds were fantastic.

Also emailed orange, they confirmed that there is no coverage map available
but said my phone would show an I when in coverage, which it obviously did.

Hi,

Do you have a working email address you're happy to pass in my direction?

No coverage map is publicly available, EDGE rollout is generally happening
in areas where 3G won't reach for a while yet. Even internally within
Orange, the only way of checking EDGE coverage is to check an individual BTS
site for EDGE support.
