Can anyone help with a small problem? I got a new GD87e from Orange this
week and I bought a data cable to connect to my PC's serial port to use the
Edit Tool software downloaded from Panasonic. However, the software tells me
that the phone is not connected. I guess that this could be either a faulty
data cable or I have not set up the serial port correctly (although it works
with my personal organiser), or do Orange set their phones so that a data
cable can't be used?
I would be grateful for any advice before I try a different data cable.
Thanks
Geoff.

Is the cable a genuine Panasonic article, or a cheap £9.99 jobbie?

Most likely one not suited to the software you are trying to use.

No.

Thanks for your reply, you are correct in your guess that the cable is a
cheap £10.00 jobbie. But shouldn't this work if the connections are
correct?? Do you sell a Panasonic cable, if so how much?

Goeff, some copies do work, but most that I have come across do not. They
should work if the connections are teh same but many are not the same. I
suggest you retuirn the cable and spend a bit more cash.

Perhaps users of this group could help Geoff out? I don't own a GD87 myself
(or sell cables) so I wouldn't know where to start. Don't the Vodafone
Retail shops sell the proper Panasonic phone manager suite/cable? Think I
saw it for about £30 but this was some time ago.
