Mobile Porting timescale?

A quick query for the wise people of this ng - what is the normal
timescale for a mobile number port, from the point where the new
provider is given the PAC to the number being transferred?

I was under the impression it was 7 days (though the port date must
fall on a weekday).

However I'm porting my easyMobile number over to Carphone Warehouse's
Fresh network and I've just been told that the port will take place in
14 days time.

(Annoyingly the easyMobile service will go dead before that point so
the number I wish to port will be in an unreachable limbo for a few
days, but I guess that'll show me for dragging my feet when I should've
sorted it earlier.)

5 to 7 working days I belive.

Best of luck. I tried to port a number to Fresh once and they botched it,
resulting in me losing the number altogether. It was a good number, too.

Wouldn't touch anything remotely connected with CPW with a very long pole.
Read many, many posts about their history.

My port from easyMobile to 3 didn't take 2 weeks, forget exactly how
many days it was, if I find the details I'll post.  My other number
which I am switching to Virgin to an account I've had with Virgin for
over 3 years is due to switch over this Friday, I called Virgin Friday
just gone with the PAC, so that's 7 days.

5 working days.

Probably because they are doing so many!

If the easy number is dead when it comes to port, it may not work. I
would seek assurances.

I thought so.

I guess the systems at Fresh might not be geared up for the influx. The
operator I spoke to sounded very competent, unfortunately I was
half-asleep when I called just past 8 this morning so failed to query
the port date she gave me.

I sent a message to easyMobile customer services (or what's left of
them) earlier on querying this point - they say there'll reply within
24 hours, if not I'll call them. An FAQ answer on the easyMobile
website does appear to suggest the only requirement is that the new
provider must have be notified of the porting request by the end of the
day on 7 December (this coming thursday) [1].

I'll also call Fresh to query why the port date has been set so far in
the future. However AIUI a port date is pretty much set in stone so I
doubt it can be changed.
