Does anyone know of any phone plans that include International SMS as
part of the package or cheaper than virgins 20 pence ?

I currently use bulksms from the web but this does not help
when I need to sms via my phone.

I think O2 payg with a bolt-on option has 10p to Europe and maybe some
other places

Look into Java clients in the phone that are sent over wap/gprs,
costing from 2 pence each, (plus modest network data cost)

Babble, smsBug, mobiSMS, vgsmail

I've hardly used any myself. Several people like smsbug, but my O2
phone never got the registration confirmation, and I've heard the same
of other networks. I have mobisms in the phone ready to use,
recommended by a friend who I'd trust, and this also has some of the
lowest rates
