Non-browser PC-SMS Service?

I used to use ICQ's free service to SMS people from my PC at work, but now
the service has stopped working.

I am looking for a replacement PC-SMS service, but am having difficulty
tracking one down that does what I want.

It's important to me that it's not browser-based: I really liked the way
that ICQ was a separate application that just sat in the system tray until I
needed it.

Also, ICQ was also two-way, so people's replies would come back to my PC. In
an ideal world, however, it would be great if the service could spoof my
mobile number so that the reply came back to my mobile. Otherwise, I won't
get replies that are sent after I've left work until the next day.

Does any company offer such as service? I'm prepared to pay for it!

TIA for your pointers...

http://www.vgsmail.com will do 'spoofing' of your mobile number and
you can send messages either from the web or from your favour email
client.  There is actually a java applet too and although I have never
bothered to run it on the PC there is no particular reason why you
shouldn't.

Thanks, Geoff.

Although it's not exactly what i'm looking for, I think I'll go with it --
it's so cheap and the site is super-fast.

I couldn't get the midlet working on my PC though, and it also fails to send
messages from my Siemens S55, but that's likely because Vodafone's seems to
limit people on its free GPRS service to WAP via GPRS -- no internet access
via GPRS is possible.

Thanks again for the pointer.

Our software www.textmagic.co.uk/magicmessage may be exactly what
you're looking for. It's a standalone program for Windows for sending
text messages. Replies come back to your email account, although we
can set your account, so messages appear to come from your phone.

If you don't like the look of ours, FastSMS and Deltica both have PC
SMS clients.
