My PAYG phone used to work with GPRS. When I got the SIM, the network
sent it an SMS to configure it.
I bought a cheapo charger (one of the little switched-mode ones) off
eBay that fried the phone :-( but the SIM is still OK :-)
Anyway, the replacement - same model BTW, works fine for voice calls
with the old SIM but whenever I try to open a GPRS connection with
the new phone I get an error message from the PC to the effect:
"network connection could not be established
subscribe to GPRS option"
Now, my assumption is that the network hasn't SMS'd my replacement
phone with a configuration message, having already sent it once to
my number when it set up the original phone.
Has anyone got a way to persuade the network to reconfigure the
new phone for GPRS (I'd really like to do this without having to
talk to the hell-desk)? Or another way to get the phone set up?
Particulars: phone is a V220, network is Vodafone, using Motorola
phonetools on W2K

From the PC?? Are you trying a GPRS connection with your laptop? If so have
you got the right number/username and password.
