Hi,
The process with Vodafone for transfering your current number from a
contract to Pay As You Talk would work as follows:
- You send a letter into Vodafone, requesting that the contract closes
and switches over to Pay as you Talk. 30 days notice is required to do
this and you would be required to pay your remaining line rental until
this period.
- After 30 days your number and current SIM card automatically switches
over to Vodafone Pay As You Talk.
Have you already been placed in Vodafone's 30 day diary for an out and
out termination? If this goes through then you would lose your number.
If you're in the diary and Vodafone have accepted your letter of
termination (a written letter with signature is required), you could
still contact customer services and they can alter the status from a
cancelation to a pay as you talk migration.
If you do need to make this change, you can go to www.vodafone.co.uk,
select 'contact us' then 'email', including the short-code FIT135 in
the body of your mail. Alernatively, if you're considering porting out
to another network on Pay as you Talk the following number will be able
to provide you with all of the relevant details: 08080 945 945.
Hope this helps

For the time being, I requested disconnection with one month notice, plus a
PAC. I am still waiting for the code that, I would expect, will be sent
within a few days.
I haven't requested to be put on a PAYG as I amnot yet sure what network I
will migrate to. I think I will make a decision in the next few days when
the PAC has arrived.

It did help, thank you very much. I have been with Voda for a few years and
never needed to change, this is the reason why I am not familiar with the
number portability process.
Thanks again.
