I have always been on Vodafone pay as you talk smartplus and stop the clock
which I think is excellent value for money. However I see three are offering
500 minutes inclusive for life for £15 per month. Is this offer what it
seems, how good is the three network compared to vodafone and if I port my
number do you think I would regret the move.. Comment for or against would
be received with thanks. I have to the end of the month to move before the
offer ends.

Thanks.

Further question, do the unused minutes roll over ?

I switched to 3 from Orange 2 years ago and found the whole set a lot
better. Unused minutes do not rollover.

I moved from Orange to o2 and then to 3 in the space of three years and I
have no regrets.

I ported two of our numbers from Orange to 3 several months ago. I very
much regret that we are locked into an 18 month contract of mediocre SE
UK coverage; strictly script-following customer service staff who are
incapable of independent thought; claims of roaming in countries where
the networks they claim to roam with have never heard of them and phones
which have a button dedicated to going to their Net portal so that you
accidentally incur download charges.

Perhaps go to Orange (I have no experience of Vodafone), but IMO say
very well clear of 3 - their headline offers are funded by a lack of
investment in the areas that probably matter to you if you rely on your
phone to stay in touch with people (what else do you have it for?).

I did sign up for a 3 deal, but canceled a few days later. I'm now on a
 Vodafone pay monthly plan instead.

Vodafone beat the deal i was about to get on 3.

as said previously, their customer support is almost like talking to a
computer, any slightly complex problem and you get nowhere

As a 3 pre pay user, it seems if you go to a 3 store with a network
related problem they tell you to go away and call the robots.

Overall not keen on 3..... but i know people very happy with them too

Utter rubbish. The Planet 3 area accessed by that button it completely free
to browse. Any content that is chargeable is clearly stated as being so.

On every other network that button is available for more useful purposes

That rather depends on your individual requirements.
