Hi all,

Just obtained one of these with my contract but am having trouble
browsing the web and using email.

According to an introductory message, my email system should be all set
up but when I try to send a test email I get the message 'Connection
failed'.

The details under 'Email Account' are:
Account name: Vodafone mail
SMTP server: smtp.vodafone.net
SMTP port: 25
Use SSL: no
Email retrieval server type: POP3
POP3 server: pop.vodafone.net
POP3 port: 110
Use SSL: no
Keep on server: yes
My address: <my Vodafone email address>
User name: <my Vodafone email address>
Password: ***********
Use POP before SMTP authentication: no
Use SMTP authentication: yes
Same as POP3/IMAP4: yes

I've tried having my username as the name before the @ in the email
address but this doesn't work either.

Can anyone suggest where I'm going wrong with internet and email settings?

Thanks,

Hi Rob

I am not sure if you are just having problems sending email or having
problems with sending and receiving and accessing the web on your
phone.

If you are just having problems sending can you try using our
alternative SMTP server send.vodafone.net.

If you continue to experience problems please email us by visiting
www.vodafone.co.uk and include FIT135 in the body of your message so
that it is routed to the correct team.  We can then check your account
is set up correctly for data access.  It would also help us if you
could include a URL to this thread.

Kind regards

Andrew

All sorted now and many thanks to the Vodafone customer services chaps!

It turns out GPRS was not enabled on my account.
