What plan is best?

I only make about 15 mins of calls a month, probably less than 50
texts a month, a few picture messages, and upto about 10mb of mobile
internet use max. So I am mainly using it for texting and mobile
internet.

Can anyone suggest what would be the best plan for me to use and with
which network?

At the moment I am on Vodafone 18 Anytime 125 STC +250. 18 months
expired 6 months ago. It usually costs me between £19 and £26 per
month depending how much I use mobile internet.

Would I be better on PAYG or going with a different contract plan?

I have been quite happy with Vodafone. The coverage is good and in my
experience the last 2 years the customer service has been good too.
However I think I am paying too much for the small amount I use the
phone.

If I was to go on PAYG is there anyway your credit can be
automatically topped up by direct debit etc or do you have to do that
manually each month or when it runs out? Also, if I change to PAYG can
I keep my phone number?

Cheers for your advice,

John

If you're happy with your phone, ring vodafone and ask them
for a non hardware deal, they should give you 9 months half
price on a 12 month contract.

3 do a £15 month plan 600 texts and 75 mins. You could then add X-Series
Silver for £5 which would give you unlimited (fair usage 1GB) of data. You
would not save much, but your bills would be predictable.

So it isn't unlimited!  It is LIMITED to 1GB.
I wish people would stop misusing the word unlimited, if it was unlimited
there would be no limit, and no 1GB limit!
You can't have limited unlimited.  It's either one or the other no matter
how many clauses or definitions are used.

Try ringing vodafone, ask to cancel and leave and you'll be put
through to retentions. They'll probably be able to offer you a good
deal if you stay.

If not, you can transfer your number to vodafone pay as you talk
easily, or if you wanted another network you'll need a pac code which
the retentions department will give you if they dont persuade you to
stay with vodafone with the deal they'll make you.

I agree! It's just a sales-pitch to lure you in. I have just moved from
UK to USA and have unlimited on my Data plan and it is as it says:
unlimited! Nice and simple. As far as I know, you can't use it as a
modem connection for a laptop, but other than that, it is what it
says...so nice for a change!
I *do* miss UK's PAYG system - waaaaaay better than here!

That's because if you call it "Unlimited" in your marketing in the USA
but there are really limits (even if the latter are all disclosed in
the T&Cs) then you get sued:

That I'll agree with.
