Does any one know how to remove the lock preventing installing non
Hutchinson software?

To be perfectly honest, who cares? 3 are stupid to have imposed the
lock in the first place. Even if you get round the lock you'll still
be limited to a small walled garden - more a vegetable patch really -
with no access to normal email or the Internet as a whole.

If you already have a 920 and are within money back return, I would
get shot of it, and switch to a p800, p900 or wait for the BenQ uiq
Symbian phone. These are all:
- lighter
- smaller
- have more memory
- better battery life
- no software locks (so far)
- access to real email and the Internet on the other networks
- have the same basic Symbian uiq software

Sorry not to answer your question, but given all the other issues with
3, getting past the software lock will only be one small step.

btw - if anyone does find a solution, I am interested, if only for
academic reasons.

all the best,
Ian

Not even a vegetable patch really. More like the patch of weeds behind
the garden shed.
