I'm not sure about "at any time" - I thought it was only the first 6
months, and don't you have to tell them you plan to port a number
later?
You'll not be able to port back to VM OVP, though.

Thanks for that. Basically I wanted to port out to Virgin and then port back
to my new Orange HSD plan which is on the same account as my current OVP VM.
I figured it best to get my old number on my new SIM and therefore benefit
from cheaper SMS on the HSD plan. Obviously I didn't mention this to Orange
when I took out the new contract.
Was just a thought.

Yes I've done this before with my girlfriend's number which was on EQ
Virgin - ported it out to Virgin, then brought it back to Orange a month
later onto a new phone which I'd got about 2 month's previously.
