Can you still get proper fitted car phones? How much? With the change in
legislation I reckon its the best thing to do. Vodafone used to do (still
do?) a "multi-sim" service where you can have something like 3 mobiles with
the same number. Trouble is, I am on Orange, do they have anything similar?
I couldnt get any sense out of CS.

They still do, it's called 'MultiSIM'.

No.

If you have a 6210 or 6310i then a CARK-91 kit is your best option. There
is also an external handset HSU-1 that allows a passenger to use the phone
while it's still in the cradle, as their voice is unlikely to be picked up
well by the microphone if it is in the best place for the driver. It also
allows a degree of privacy (if someone else is driving, of course..!)

They used to have Everyphone, which was better in some respect, and
free.

It is officially discontinued, but it seems to work as well (or
otherwise) as it ever did.

Hardly surprising. Blood out of a stone!

It still works fine for me by dialling 330, but I can't access it online
any more, and I was definitely able to do so _after_ it was supposedly
withdrawn. These things are flaky though- are other people still able to
access it online?

I had so many problems with the online version that I stooped using it
a long time ago.

I can't access it on line any more, but I'm reluctant to spend money
calling 330 unless I *know* it's going to work..! Fortunately I was never
a heavy user of the system, it was just nice knowing it was there if I
ever forgot my phone when I went out.

The option has been removed online but still works perfectly
on 330 - been using at least twice a day.  Works better than
before as far as I can tell :)

Oddly, the only time I ever _used_ it online was a few weeks ago- and it
worked perfectly, and was easy to use. Then again, I've never been able
to view my bills online...

Funny, I've never had a problem with that..! It's the inclusive minutes
report that doesn't work for me..!

Yes. motorola 2700 or Nokia 6190, but these are fairly old.

Not convinced. A 6310i and CARK-91 is hard to beat.

Do you mean the Nokia 6090..? That one is getting on a bit, true, and from
the leaflet I have only works on the 900 MHz band and not 1800 MHz, which
I find surprising. However on their website they have just announced a new
model, the Nokia 810 www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,8764,19021,00.html which
looks very nice, but isn't cheap..!

Can't argue with that for personal use. A fixed phone is useful for
commercial fleets though.

And doesn't work all that well either.
